Nothing to do with cars Mo!  We are pushing the birds back in the direction of their release pens, as if they are allowed just to keep wandering, they will do just that and keep going further and further away.  It gives us the opportunity of some points and practicing steadiness to the flush and steadiness when there are a lot of birds just running around.  K

Carrog is about 45 mins from where we live, not far from Llangollen.  It is very hard on the dogs and handlers.  This week we will have been over there Monday, tomorrow, Thursday and then Saturday again.  The days I'm not there we are dogging-in in the mornings near to here,  fitting in a bit of training and a very small bit of housework!

Love the picture of Ekko retrieving   she is a star.
The terrain you work on at shot looks very rough  and hard on the dogs,
is it near where you stay Karen?
Any shots coming up soon?

Picking Up

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
07-11-26 g.jpgA couple of piccies showing the kind of terrain at one of the places where we pick up (collect the birds that have been shot).  I don't think it would pass any health and safety checks!  Also one of Ekko bring me a pheasie.  She was 6 months this week.  I can tell how much she is growing by the fact that she is now bigger than the birds!  The last is of Inca and Ekko waiting patiently. c2.jpg c4.jpg 07-11-26 b.jpg

Skye

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
On the Tilly front her blood sample result was positive    so.....
Skye   they say cut back her food  so her body thinks  she has hit on hard times
and she will not be able to feed them  and so "spontaneous abortion?!"
exercise her hard     I know you do anyway  but
Also ignore  alll her funny activities??!
sure someone else will come on with advice

Hi Mo,

Got home last night.  H wasn't being funny.  My fault - I never use the kennel names!

Yesterday was another Field Trial - this time an AA!  The whole trial was run in one field of sugar beet and was over by 12.30.  Inca did brilliantly.  On our first run she had two HPRs.  Only three of us got through to the second round (plus one other that didn't hunt was given a couple of minutes) and unfortunately after another lovely retrieve, this time on a strong running cock bird, we were out for bad ground management really which meant she was unable to point this bird. Didn't matter to me - she had worked really well and everyone had enjoyed themselves. Inca was given  the guns award at the end of the day which was great - they thought she was brilliant.  The only award was a 3rd which went to Fred Alcock.

We're out picking up again today - there's no peace for the wicked!

Ekko is now nearly 6 months.  (Tarkanya Spikeys Splendour Mo - I was told off!  Inca is Tarkanya Lytas Lassie)

Connahs Quay is just down the road really.  Have they got an older one as well?  I have met a lady at Wepre sometimes who has  Munster.

Hi Karen, glad you've joined us - looking forward to hearing and seeing more of you working and training your dogs.
How old is Ekko now?  Grace gone to live at Connahs Quay - anywhere near you.  Would love to come over when the weather is a bit warmer with Ruby.
Linda and all other munsters owners come and enjoy Nat Apt Day nr Kelso this June - an excellent day, lovely atmosphere, good food, help and advise if needed, to join in or watch in a beautiful setting.  Pick up training ideas or just chat munsters - put it in your next years diary - sorry Helen (Field Trial Sec) pinching your ardour but it is such a good day for all.

Ruby's first outing

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
We decided to go for our first walk despite the weather and took a little camera video which we hope you can see - good time was had by all in the hills above Grassington North Yorkshire.   Mo, certainly breeding does have some influence (natural ability) but also good training - no one answered my question about working their dogs ?  not necessarily in competitions or even on a shoot but encouraging them to work (hunt, point and retrieve) whilst out on a walk in your beautiful countryside.

Ekko

Hi Karen - what super video's showing Ekko's progress, she is doing brilliant.  Is that your land ?  if so, can I come and stay with my motor home !!  This morning was planning on taking Ruby way up into the dales, off the beaten track, for her first walk (shouldn't really be out till Wednesday but the vet did say, be sensible where you go and it will be okay) but the weather dreadful, rain, sleet and snow forecast for the hills.  We are hoping it brightens up later because she so needs to be able to run off her 'steam'.
Lionel (now Max).JPGI used to sit in the puppy box and play with them for hours on end, every one knew their name, sit, paw and fetch at four weeks old, will try attach a pic of one bringing teddy back to hand. As some of you know I do puppy training - sorry owner training but I have never yet found a puppy of any breed as quick at learning as a munster - even other hpr's breeds are good but certainly not a quick on the uptake as these.  Hope you are all well - dogs and owners and welcome any more video's. Wendy.

We receive a number of emails to thank us for our "excellent site......  and helpful site"  @ Scottishmunsters.co.uk.
But being Scottish we do not "blow our own trumpet" and do not refer to them publicly.
This email which we have just received is in a more serious vein and contains advice so We will reproduce it here
