Barking all night

We are the proud owners of Gilbert, Zeph's brother. Gilbert sleeps in a crate in our bedroom and I am CERTAIN that if he didn't he would bark all night. Our vague intention is to move him  out as soon as he has developed a more grown up attitude to the rest of his life, which could take some time.

We cover the crate with a throw, like you would cover a parrot so that he can't see much. Owls sometimes disturb him.

Our current problem, which I am intending to email Nicky about for advice - are you reading this, Nicky? - is Gillie nipping and tugging at clothes when ever he rejoins the 'pack' or whenever Gordan and I busy moving about the house ignoring him. I know the solution to this type of problem is to ignore the beast, but have you tried ignoring a munster that is biting your bum, pulling at your clothes hard enough to rip them and, if you turn your back on him, he dives between you legs to arrive in front of you again.

He does have his good points as well!
