Well done to all winners today - glad you put the post up Nicky about Gill getting a second and qualifying for Crufts - I have had a couple of calls to tell me the results but I didn't recognise it was Gill.   So well done really pleased for you.
The Daleander puppies were one year old today and I was planning a wee get together at the show with home made choc cake but Ruby in season - typical so did not make the journey.
A note for your calendar - we are going to Kenmore the week after Crufts for a weeks holiday
so if you are planning a get together can we be included - we arrrive on 14 March and leave the following Saturday 21. We have been to that area before so know of some nice walks -
but I don't know who lives near.    Wendy

Dark girl Flower Pot appears very frequently. Is she your favourite or the only one with a name?!! Will you be keeping one of these gorgeous babies?

Hard days night

What a night..pups very ++++restless..panting..& crying especially flower pot..suddenly thought  is she hungry..checked "amount to feed chart " for puppy milk  and I have been short changing the three I "top up".
So bottle out  feed my three..still crying  flower pot panting moving around box.
Been here before "nearly"  and too hot??!! or was it..Lifted heat lamp up..still unhappy..lifted it futher up..still not right..02.30am switched heat lamp off. eureka..I got some sleep..happy puppies.. The puppy room is a cold room usually windows are ajar..but had heard weather forecast..warm night.  Below picture of a peaceful litter this AM after bedding change...did not look like the final senario last night..

Last night "let me away from the heat"

Carol, I am so pleased to hear that Colin is on the mend & that things are looking up. I hope it continues like this.

Glad Colin is on the mend..he gave us a wee fright..
You know you are very welcome any time  bring your running shoes Carol..
they do sleep sometimes..three of them asleep below..

three-heads-15d.jpgOK observant viewers which Three are these??!! Bodies are available if required

Mo

yes .. its been a bit tough recently but things are looking up.  We've ordered some agility equipment so should get that in 4 weeks time approx.  Skye is eating quite well again so will be looking better for Darlington and Driffield.

Colin's out of hospital and on strong antibiotics for an abcess on his appendix ( i previously wrote it was a cyst).  He will get another scan in a couple of weeks times at which point the docs will decide whether to take out the appendix or not.

A joiner, plasterer, window installer, fencer  all booked.

Enjoying looking at the puppy pictures.. gona have to visit again. You can't help but smile when watching wee puppies in the flesh.

Wendy - plenty room for your motorhome if you need a spot for the night. This goes for anyone, with a munster, when in the area.

but "wee tail indicators " are flying. As we are now in week 3 we only need to bottle feed 4 times a day ie every 6 hours ( Royal Canin instructions). So not too bad.

Love the line dancing pics of the babies!

We are going Pam, are you? 67 entries so a very big one. Not too sure who the judge is, is it not on the show callendar page of the website?

Only bottle feeding 3 as I have indiscriminately feed puppies before and with the result of "upset tummies" +++ so DO TRY to sit on hands and not bottle feed..but 10 is a lot for my wee Rosie
although up side no Mastitis (so far)  so have picked 3 randomly  turned out to be very black one with smile on his back..flower pot..and wee last boy  with serious white on his face..I try not to feed anyone else..this leaves Rosie with 7   she does have 7 nipples so..so far seems to be working ..Will try at weekend to get them on Pedigree porridge ..I use Royal Canin milk to bottle feed  seems to work..
Webcam  have thought about that but  the whelping box is in a very dark corner of the room..Will be puttoing extension on soon so it will be moved to the middle of the room  came in and a wee girl had come out of box and was lying on the floor with Rosie feeding her..AHH..AHH..

Line Dancing

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Hi Mo

Love the latest photo - you should set up a webcam in the puppy room so that we can all watch!! I once bottle fed a litter of 11 Flat Coats to help their mum and they turned out to be the most loyal pets who always loved people. Why are you only bottling 3? Are they the smallest? All these puppy photos are making me very jealous.Might have to breed a litter out of one of the Spaniels.

Hi,

Wow - I can't believe how much the pups have come on since last week. They all look really chunky little things. Can't wait too see them & give tham all a cuddle!!! My favourite is the little boy who has the black head & large black saddle - Mo you might be better hiding him from me as I fear he might find his way into my pocket!!!LOL

Carol, how is Colin now, any better? I hope this is finally the end of your rough patch & that things start to look up for you. It's been a tough couple of months.

So, who is all going to Birmingham this weekend? It's a big entry, who's judging?

Who's Who

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

From what I can see the twins are 'arrow' the boy (puppy number 5) and the girl was the last female born number 7. The male who thinks you are mum I think was the last puppy born. The pointing poppy is Ellie mark 2 lol (thats who she reminds me of) one of the first 2 born (2nd I think but I missed the first 2). The dark boy pictured with the 'twins' was number 6 (the first one I helped her deliver).

Thats all the ones I've managed to pick out in the last few pics any way hope that helps.

Yes that is the same pup in the two pics. It is a wee boy..and yes a character..I am bottle feeding 3 of them  ..10 is a big litter for my wee Rosie.. so we are helping..
This wee fellow thinks I am mum  and has just climbed over the front of the whelping box (9ins.) to get to me and the milk bottle??!!

Hi Mo

The very active puppy in the last post appears to be the same one in the corner with its head up on a previous photo. Is it a dog or a bitch?Obviously a character. Are you starting to feed them already as you referrred to duying the puppy porridge?

I had not noticed Flower pot in photo...she seems to get every where.
The puppy on point at Scottishmunsters.net is a bitch.(in fact the same bitch that is at the front on here).  Helen picked her out of all the 10 when she came to see them this weekend .. as "a big chuncky one"  she is very noticeable as the marking on her tail is unique..ie black at top..  a wee white strip then black  and the tip is white..(I think Tilly tail as a pup was the same..another Tilly would be nice??!!)
There eyes are just opening ..can see them glitter in certain light..they sort of lift their head and look as if they are "scenting the air??!!"
Helen thought they were very forward   and mobile for their age??..
Rosie looks as normal  you would never guess she had just had 10 puppies?? except for the "milk bar"   She is on Pedigree Puppy professional  food  and Skinners puppy milk..which she would live on..Will go today and get my pedigree puppy porridge.

Judging starts at 9.00 am

Mo

Forgot to say well done to all that did well at SKC in my post the other day. Pam, you did do very well especially when some dogs can be a bit skitish when someone else is handling them. It is funy how colours change, Ceilidh has much darker legs now and has more black on her sides than she did as a puppy. Her tummy is getting a bit more black on it now and that is her at 10 months old so they can take a long time to colour up.

Anyone going down for Birmingham or Richmond?

Hi,

1st things 1st, I need to say a HUGE Thank You to , Sharon, Elspeth, Gregor, John & Fiona!!!!! I would not have managed without you all, coffees are on me at the next show!!! I had such a fun day, it was great to catch up with you all.

Thanks for the comments re me showing Maureens girls. It can be really hard to show someone else's dog but I think I did okay. I was really pleased with little Suki, she was a wee star & a pleasure to show. Tilly is lovely too although she is quite fidgety!!!!Ha I think maybe if I was to practice a bit more with them I would do better.

Big Well Done to Oakley too. I used to know Margaret from the obedience training I used to go to in Fauldhouse when I was trying to sort Elvis out. They are a lovely family & Oakley is a smashing looking dog - I hope they have now been bitten by the bug & look forward to seeing them around again soon.

Also Well Done to Helen on winning the Bitch CC - she must have been over the moon.

well erin did have a busy skc after all. she made a glimpsing visit to the breed ring to show paws but as it wa s arush the dog was unsettled so didint place and she is having a phnatom at the moment so until she decides she aint having pups we will let her have her time.

in the agility erin and buzz won the under 12 agility crufts qualifying class. they then ran in the teams and their team qualified for crufts. today erin did obedience and again wee buzz came out on top and won a class with more than enough point to qualifiy for crufts in that too. so now erin has 7 events at crufts she has qualified for which is just amazing. she is doing very well . she also borried surfs half sister today for the junior handling class and having only met the dog for 10 mins went into win the class which was just brill. dottie the collie was a star and erin moved her beautifully .

You can see how he has gone from black and white to black and grey (almost!) Actually, if you go back and look at the photos I put up of his sister Pepsi you can see why I thuoght she would be lighter in colour. I was hoping she would be more Oakley's colour, but never mind. If the skin is pink underneath the coat then they will stay white, not roan. If the skin is grey the coat will darken.

Well done to everyone yesterday. What a lovely atmosphere there was around the ring. I spent most of my tme with Robert and Margaret with Oakley, Pepsi's litter brother. This was their first Champ Show so I'm very pleased with his Post Grad win. They had never showed a dog before getting Oakley, and this was only his 3rd show ever, so well done for getting the nerves under control. This is Oakley, taken just after showing. He also does obedience. He was on his way home to do a spot of shooting (well, picking up actually!) so he is really a multi purpose dog.

Sorry I have not been on in ever such a long time. We have been trying to buy a business for months now and now we have it things are finally starting to settle down and I am getting a little more time to do things.

It was lovely to see everyone at SKC today, sorry you could not be there Mo but I have to say, I would choose a day with tiny puppies over a show any day. They are so sweet and tiny! Is that a week old now? Suki moved very well for Pam today such a sweet heart! And Tilly was lovely too, could have taken her home with me!

Looking forward to seeing updates on your puppies Mo

Hi Carol - sorrry to hear Colin in hospital - hope he is up and about real soon - you can say I send him a hug  via yourself  !!!  ....  You are not having a great deal of good luck at the moment what with house problems and now Colin.  I will include you both in my prayers and thoughts.
I am going to Scotland on Saturday, travelling up with Simon, Lorraine and Noodle.
Did consider contacting you to ask if I could park up my motor home, but it still meant a long drive on my own.  I never mind doing long drives if I am in a 'convoy' situation as I always feel someone is there should I break down and also I can't get lost if following someone.
I hope you weather forecast is correct for good weather - I can remember running round in very muddy conditions in Edinburgh on more than one occasion and running round those poles under canvas is not brilliant at the best of times, it is a bit like maypole dancing but with dogs.
Mo - have I seen Struan - is he shown, I have a mental block on him.
don't forget to put up more pics and one of daddy.   See you Saturday.  Is Nicky, Erin and family going ??  Looking forward to seeing Brodies family too.

So sorry to hear Colin is ill, please pass on our best wishes. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Gill

hi everyone, I haven't written for awhilebut i havekept an eye on what you guys have been up to every few days.  I had a wee shot at puppy sitting this morning for Rosey.  It was 9 pups she had  eh Mo!

They all looked very content and Rosey was also very relaxed. I'm glad dogs have good memories as I've not seen Rosey for a while and she was happy to see me and let me enter the puppy room.

Not sure if we will be at skc on sat as colin in hospital just now. He thought he had food poisining a week ago. went to doctors who thought gastro....something.  A week later still no good so of to hospital for tests. A day later and diagnosed with a cyst on his appendix! so currently he has an antibiotic drip in the hospital until then decide wether/when to take out the appendix.

So i hope you have a good day on sat.  if anyone goes it will just be skye and myself.  spring to keep colin company at home if he gets out.

It was taken at the GSPC training day last month, which is probably why you didn't recognise the scenery! I was there with Chance (the one that didn't want to leave his mummy - the silly boy) I have a couple more that you can see when we meet at SKC, as they are still on my camera. I haven't deleted them yet.

It's Brodie!

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

I am so very very slow......

I looked at the picture and thought that pup looks so much like Brodie. I even clicked and enlarged it and thought he's identical to Brodie, but it can't be him as I don't recognise the surroundings. Then I saw the pocket on the person's trousers and thought I have a patchwork pocket like that on my favourite comfy cords. I then looked at the pup again and once more thought it really looks like Brodie but surely it can't be. I then looked at the person again and realised it was me! It's scary that I recognised Brodie before myself! It's also scary how much bigger he is just one month on from that photo being taken. They grow so quickly.

Mo

Glad to hear that the girls are all going to be darker, will speak to you about them later or do you have any ordered. A bit concerned to hear they are vocal already, it's taken me six months to get a full nights sleep with Lucy who is very vocal - ask any one within a mile radius of our village. We had three new houses built in the village this year and they have all been sold to dog owners. Lucy thinks its great fun to wind them all up by barking at them as we pass - not sure the owners share her sense of humour!!! However everyone thinks Lucy is gorgeous and I am confident that she will make a good gun dog as she is a natural retriever, hunts up well and has an excellent nose. Swimming needs abit more practice but I am sure that will come as she certainly likes water in the form of every muddy puddle we meet and there are plenty of those at present.I think we would be better growing rice if the Summers  are going to be like this one

Worry not Lucy..

All three girls are gong to be dark (remember Struan Mother is Black ..you cannot get blacker than Lyta so..)  You can see already the dark under the coat...The boys are different  ..well there are 7 ..so lovely variation in colours there...
Hope you make SKC Sharon  and Jim  will be nice to meet you again

I know from Lucy how the colours change and I used to have English Setters which are also born white except for any patches - if that makes sense. Hello

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Hi,

This is our first posting, so I thought I'd do a quick intro. I recognise some of your names either from the Tentsmuir walk earlier this year or the Nat App near Kelso. After our first meeting of munsters and their owners at Tentsmuir, Jim and I thought this was definitely the breed for us, and now we have Brodie, who is 5 month old. He is a confident friendly pup and full of fun, and certainly keeping us fit!

Mo, the pups look lovely. I hope you're getting enough rest. Looking after all those pups must be hard work. Does it get easier or harder as they start to develop more?

Regarding the colours, I would recommend taking the advice of the breeder on how they think a pup will develop. As a pup Brodie was the exact opposite in colouring from what we wanted but his personality attracted us to him. He was very white and we initially wanted a darker dog. But Judith explained how she thought he'd likely develop and so far it's been very accurate, and we're delighted with his colouring. He's quite spotty and lots of children think he's a dalmation. I think Lily is a good example of how much they can change. The difference in her between 5 months and recently is still quite significant so Brodie may change quite a bit yet. With regards to colouring the nice thing about munsters, I think, is that they can be so different.

I'm thinking about going to the SKC show on Saturday (I've never been to a show before) so if I do I may see some of you there. Good luck to you all.

Hi,

I think it's amazing how they change in the 1st year - really fascinating. With Elvis it was just his flecking that came through. Sadly I don't have ANY puppy pics of him (they got lost when I moved home) so can't put up any examples.

I think flower pot looks like a Tulip!!!LOL

Looking forward to seeing everyone at SKC at the weekend. Here's hoping the weather forecast is true as I would hate it if it's wet like it has been this week!!

Mo

Sorry to have caused so much debate on the colour issue.I do have preference for the darker colour although working ability is also important. Our head keeper doesn't like light coloured dogs in the picking up team because he claims they turn the birds so I couuld not afford to turn out with a black and white as such. We are not even allowed to wear a white shirt on the grouse moor!!! Flower Pot looks lovely and appears to have a black head and bits of black on her feet - not sure about the name, might be better as pansy!

colour changes

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
Enjoy seeing all the pictures and hearing that the pups and mum doing well.
When Lila had her pups (nearly one whole year ago) I had a potential new owner who did not want the white one (I, at that time called it Lily) even though I explained how they changed and that she would be very dark. The lady chose not to have any of my three bitches as she wanted a dark one and I had not made my choice and at that time Ruby was injured.
I have put up pictures of Lily at birth, seven weeks, five months and last one taken a couple of weeks ago, Lily now Shula getting best puppy bitch and first in junior bitch (also she has a RBB at Bath show.  (See what fun the lady could have had with the white one !!)
My reason for this post is to say, try not to pick on colour - they do change and you love how they change and how they end up anyway.

The pics didn't come out in the order I posted them. But you get the idea..... It's always fascinated me how they change colour, but I wasn't expecting her to be quite that dark LOL!

I've been busy decorating my bathroom this past week (long overdue) so am just catching up.

Well done to everyone at the weekend. It's nice to see new people coming into the breed and doing well. Might see some of you this weekend at SKC.

Gill, I hope you don't mind me taking over the colour bit, but thought you would be interested in seeing how Pepsi developed. The pics were taken at birth, 6 weeks (or thereabouts....) and 9 months. stance 003.jpg DSCF0285.JPG pepsi 02.jpg

If you have a Sky box & you want  Sky  in another room in your house  don't buy an AV sender Receiver at Mega money  Get coaxial cable  and run from RF2 Connection on back of Sky box and and put the other end of coaxial cable in aerial slot on second TV. It works great I set it up yesterday. The AV Sender can interfere with WIFI you or your neighbours are using (apparently)
I just need a new wee TV for best pic  the one I am using is 20 years old??!! good enough for puppy room>

Finally, Well Done to Helen & Spikey!!! She is a lovely girl & deserves to do well.

I was very lucky over the weekend to get to spend some time with Rosie & the pups. They are absolutely gorgeous. They are really active for only being a few days old, they were moving about all over the place, clambering all over Rosie!!!!LOL So Cute!!!!

Well done to Erin, that is an achievement!

Mo, the puppies look really nice, do you think they will be white like Carly or will they fleck up? Are mum and dad both dark?

Pam, I will be at Darlington so I will see you there. Will you be there with Elvis? It will be nice to have a catch up with you. Haven't seen you since...Border Union!?

And well done to Rosie and human helpers too, puppies looking nice, even and chunky.
Vicky can you see the one that looked like Carly as a pup.  I can see a couple marked similar to ones in Lila's litter - an Aero look alike too.

Keep us informed with pictures Mo.    Wendy

..........how are you? Carly is looking lovely. I really like her markings.

Are you coming up to SKC next week? If not, I will be at Darlington in Sept so maybe we can catch up then??

Well done Erin on another really successful weekend. Sounds like lots of fun too which is great.

I have Elvis staying with me this week while Billy is away on holiday. It's been brilliant having him but I think I am going to be really sad when I need to give him back on Sunday. My dad has been babysitting while I have been at work so Elvis has been having a great time playing out his back garden. I think tomorrow though the boy is going to have to come to work with me though so that'll be fun!!!!LOL

we are back

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

we are back we are knackered but happy!!!!!

erin and dogs did great we are so proud of them all. as mo said she qualified for the final of the international junior hanldoer of the year. they didnt get anywhere in the final but had a lovely run infront of the huge crowd. they also qualified for the nations cup. dogs form certain classes get points for what places they acheive and the top 6 get put into to teams to represent their country so erin and wee buzz were in a team for scotland. erin and buzz went clear int he jumping and picked up 5 in the agility. unfortuanaltly one of the dogs in the team hit the spread really hard and somersauted ove rhe bar landing hard on her back so was withdrawn from the run to save further injury. luckiliy she is fine and although a bit shook up should be fine in time. ace had some cracking rounds but picked up some faults along the way but at 2 he is a baby and he will learn with maturity. watch out next year cos wee paws will be on the scene too. thats if the agility world is ready for paws and ellie!!!

Yes Wendy you can win the prize ..well done..John I also wondered which pair of dirty legs was being referred to ..but it was meant to be the dogs..How many dogs were you controlling in the picture Wendy?

Mo,

I hope that reference to dirty legs refers to the dog and not to the handler!

Back home safe after our week staying with Karen, Steve, Jambo and Shula.
As well as the two champ shows we went to from their house we got in some lovely walks and the weather was kind to us too.  While the guys went off playing golf, we hit the shops in Taunton one morning ... but mostly spent time with the dogs.  Karen is a keen photographer and whenever my back was turned she took a picture  (see below) !!!  Thanks for the nice comments and congratulations received about all of my puppies wins and successes - and yes I am really chuffed - who wouldn't be and a lot of their success is down to having great puppy owners who are happy and prepared to put the time and effort in .  Thank you.wendy and dogs

Hi Pam, I've just been on their website. We are 2nd in the ring. There are 39 daschunds before us and there are 40 munsters. So don't be too late .........

Well done to Aero and family! I've been busy spring cleaning (I know it's not spring, but hey....!) so missed the results. It's good to see Scottish owned/bred dogs doing so well this year. Keep it up folks!!!!!

.....to John, Fiona & of course the scrumptious Aero!!!! I was over the moon to hear about your RCC on Saturday. You must be delighted. He is a gorgeous boy & I think this may be the start of a long successful show career.

Wendy, you too must be over the moon with this litter. It really is shaping up to be another 1 to watch!!! It is lovely to see new dogs & owners doing well. Keeps it interesting.

I haven't been to many shows this year as I have had lots of other thigs going on & couldn't afford to do it all. I am hoping though to get to more shows in Sept & Oct so that will be good.

I will be at SKC in a couple of weeks so will hopefully see a few of you there. Does anyone know if we are 1st or 2nd in the ring? Perhaps if we are 1st in we could organise a wee run somewhere after????

Aero

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Thanks for that! We have had a couple of good weeks with Aero recently. Two firsts in Puppy dog and two Best Puppy in consecutive championship shows and of course now he has his stud book number. We are really pleased with him, and we are really delighted for Wendy - her pups are doing really well.

Only two more shows at "puppy" left for him.

We are just heading off to Mugdock Park now to let Aero get a good run out and probably very wet and very muddy! He deserves it.

hope to see you at SKC.

Thanks Lorraine and Stuart for your kind comments..we Scots can be a bit "dour" but praise where due..you guys have done really well. You can put a brand new puppy in a home ..the puppy looks as if it has "promise" and at 6months it comes out in puppy class  and you think  "what have they done to it"?  So down to Breeding  and after care..feeding..  exercise just right amount...resting time  just right.. all these things go into bringing out the best in a wee puppy ..
So both Tina & you as Noodles mum are to be congratulated on Noodles achievements.
Pictures would be nice??!!
& Thanks Tina for your email and your kind words  ..

Hi Lorraine

and welcome to the blog. I must admit to being glad I wasn't picking a pup from that litter - they were all lovely LOL!! I don't think it could have been easy picking just one. I saw them a couple of times (I only live 15 minutes away from Tina) and did their 'test' at 7 weeks.

See you at SKC. Let's hope the weather is good. I hate showing under those tents in the rain.

Got this from Tina

Hi Mo,

Please thank all concerned for their congratulations re Noodle and Merlin on your blog. Much appreciated. Simon & Lorraine as newcomers to the breed are 'over the moon' with Noodle. As the breeder of this litter  I am so proud of them and all their owner /handlers, and from my point of view I am so pleased that they are with folk who would love them just the same even if they weren't winning!  It's lovely to see Paulyne handling Merlin herself to his res CC as she has always been very shy of going into the show ring and Alan has handled their dogs most of the time ..up until now! Think he might have lost his job!

I had a res CC at Windsor 1985 with a Gordon Setter dog  Celtaur Gaelic Star, bred in my very first litter. He was retired from the show ring because he had a hip score of 90 [yes you did read that right!] and never bred from.
It's taken  another 23 years to equal his achievement. Is this the longest 'apprenticeship' in history??

Having 'made up the numbers' for so many years these successes are all the sweeter, I 've always had some good dogs at home and that are very special to me, but I was never committed enough to trail round all of the shows to campaign them, especially since moving to Scotland and the daunting long distance driving of the Motorways. It takes a real doggedness [no pun intended] to travel the distance that folk constantly do from up here, and I applaud those who do so at ever increasing expense and very often not even a piece of cardboard to bring home.

I can't quite  believe how it's suddenly come together in both breeds, beginning with the first Junior Warrant for Paulyne &  Alan with Chevy Gordon Setter [Celtaur Bealtuinn] in April this year. Suddenly we have another JW and 4 res CC'S spread across 3 of the Celtaur 'A S' munster litter ...I'm a bit breathtaken with it all.

I'm not sure if 13 months old is a JW record, I'd only just realised that Celtaur had had every Best Puppy in breed at Champ Shows between Crufts and Blackpool when they came out of the Puppy Class.

Again, thanks for the congratulations, and to those sporting exhibitors who have graciously accepted Noodle, Merlin and Flikkas wins and made the enjoyment of the day all the more, especially for those who are new to the breed.

Love you all

Tina

Hello everyone,

Many thanks for your lovely comments about Noodle, (and the rest of the litter), I'm sure Tina is over the moon!

Noodle is our first Munster, and we still can't believe how well she is doing, when we saw her at 6 weeks old, we had no idea what we had let ourselves in for!

We are coming up to SKC in a couple of weeks, look forward to seeing you

Lorraine
