Very sad news here. We had to make the horrible and hard decision to have kai put to sleep. his leg flaired up this week and swoll to three times normal size and he had a raging temp. the vet took him i and looked and xrayed it and we took him home bandaged up, the next day at the vet he looked at the leg again and a gash of 4 inches had burst on his leg right down to the plate. it had been full of infection because the plate is a foriegn  body. we took him home and were told he would need to have plate removed and after months of rest he might be ok or his bone might not hold and would break the minute he put any strain on it. that is not a great thing to be faced with and to put him through it all for nothing just wasnt an option. kai as you all knew was a love wire and wouldnt like being caged up and not allowed to run for the rest of his life so we made the decision to let him go to sleep. it was the hardest thing we have ever done but it was for him we did it. please understand how we feel at this time and let us have time to come to terms with it.
