Sorry Mo, no problem - yes I do like the duck you gave me, I thought you wanted me to change it for a pic of the dogs.  Addingham, where I live, is well known for it's village ducks, hence the place is knick-named dingham ducks - Ken wanted me to have it as my kennel name !!
Hope you are feeling much better and Nicky too.  Our first committee meeting this weekend, back to the grindstone !!   Still busy decorating our rented out house ready for next tenants who take over on 15 June.  Today spent another day in it's garden.  Out tonight to a lovely restaurant with all the girls celebrating a 60th birthday.  Ken have sausage, beans and chips.  !!

Hi everyone. Lucy hasn't had time for blogging recently as very busy but the little image is very sweet and typical. Hope she doesn't steal anything at the big Birhday Bash we are having next week.Might introduce her as the cabaret if things get boring. She is certainly a thug around the others, poor little Jess hides from her and Rascal likes  to be shut in the cage to escape her antics. However big girl Purdey has her under control so she is learning some manners. She still wakes me up at 5.45am don't know why. Certainly don't need an alarm clock. Will send you some photos of her in her party dress!!!

Firstly, I hope you are both feeling better today, Mo and Nicky. Pamper yourselves a bit. No-one else will.....lol....

Border Union, English Setters have 52 dogs making 59 entries. Hope that helps. I won't be there this year. I will be at the club show, though, provided I can still borrow the car I've been promised. Mine is off the road, and will be until I can get someone to have a good look at it to find out what's wrong.

I took this photo when I ws trying to get a head shot. As you can see, it didn't quite work out! DSCF0358.jpgThey all came to see what was going on.

Hi,

Mo, I didn't know yuo weren't well this week. I hope you fell better soon. I am not surprised you are feeling "Run Down" the past few weeks/ months have been pretty full on. Hopefully a few days rest will make all the difference.

Glad to hear Nicky is on the mend. She too will probably feel quite weak for a while, these types of things can really knock the wind out of you.

Well I have a very busy weekend ahead of me. Tonight I am going to see my friend Ross in his band called Elmo. They are "Headlining" a gig in Glasgow!! Then tomorrow me, my sister & my friend Nicola are going to an event in Braehead Arena called "Back to the 80s"!!! Needless to say we are getting dressed up in 80s style clothes (fingerless gloves, leg warmers, big hair etc!!). There is going to be a roller disco & Karaoke as well as some Blasts from the Past performing on stage!!! I think it's going to be a fun day. If there are any pics I may post a few next week!!!LOL Sunday I am planning on having a PJ day as I think I might be pretty tired!!! hahaha

What has everyone else got planned for this weekend?

Do you like your "userpic" Wendy?  I think it is cool (I am sad). To put your own "userpic" up   Go to  the page you write your posts  on & at  the top right hand corner  hit "Hi Munsters" (in my case)
It will then open up your profile page  and you will see "userpic"  Wendy you will see the duck  and it will say remove userpic   So to put up your up just say userpic  find which one you want on your computer and hit upload  easy?!. Vicky do you want one or will you do it yourself?.( & anybody else who would like one??!!!)

Nicky is better than she was  but not "fixed"  I have the worst cold I have ever had?  I feel terrible....I must be very "run down" ....
Vicky I dont know how many English Setters in before us @ Border Union but am working on it

We are in the ring after the English Setters who start at 9:30am - How many setters are entered?

Will post a longer post later for everyone - got to go out! xx

Some of my puppy owners read your site regular so I hope you don't mind me putting this short video on here, it was taken last week when we met Max (who was my Lionel) for the first time since he left the nest, so to speak. They recognised each other instantly, I am sure Lila thought 'Oh no not another of my pups!' whereas caring Gran Abbie checked him over.  He and Ruby were so happy and playful together as you can see from the video.
Sorry some of you not coming to Club Show but not long till Kelso when I know you will give us your warm Scottish welcome as always. May I make a point to new owners you don't have to enter your dog into the Nat Apt Day at Morebattle - just come and watch, learn and enjoy the company.

Lmc Nat. App is being held Kelso 14th June 2008 for more info & contact details

Club Show

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Hi,

Wendy, it really sounds like everyone is pulling together for the Club Show this year. That's really nice to hear. I hope it does help encourage any newbies to the breed to come along & get involved. I always really enjoy the Club Show & think it has a great atmosphere. Yes we all know there are certain little groups that don't get on but as long as they keep out of each others way & not do anything to antagonise each other then there's no problem. I think on the whole this is a nice breed to be a part of & that any new people coming into it will be warmly welcomed & made to feel comfortable.

I am sorry I will be missing the Club Show this year but hopefully I will make it next year instead.

For any of those not making that Show don't forget there is the Nat Apt in Kelso on Sat 14th June (the day before Border Union). This is another really fun day out. It's very relaxed & everyone always has a great time, especially the dogs.

Sending love and best wishes to Nicky - sorry to hear you are not well and that you have been in hospital.  Hope nothing too serious, so if any of you over the border are in touch with her please pass on my best wishes.

For those who are coming to the show, we are trying to make it as social as we possibly can.
Know how hard it can be to chat and socialize during lunch when moving dogs and children around etc. but if you possibly can say Hi to someone who you perhaps don't know and introduce yourselves.  Having a raffle and heard maybe a tombola.  I am selling dog coats of which monies go to the Animal Health Trust.

Hopefully people will be there who are new to munsters and new to showing, we want to help, encourage and make them welcome.  If you have not heard I have been giving the job of cheer leader so when cards are given out we clap, cheer, jump up and down and congratulate EVERYONE.  (Wonder why I got that job when I am so quiet and shy!!)

Looking forward to seeing some of you, but with fuel costs as they are it is a very expensive day out.  Pray for good weather, good friends and a good day out.  Cheers  W

Have updated and reformated the slide show of  SKC May 2008 which has broken the front page of site  so I have put on a static image will fix ASAP

Hi,

Thanks Wendy, I was really pleased with Elvis' win on Sunday. Aero did superb too, he was a bit wired ringside (brought back a few memories of when Elvis was a pup actually) but Fiona did a great job of keeping him under control in the ring. A well deserved win. We all went across the road after the judging to let the dogs get a run about together, they all had a great time. Looking forward to seeing more photo's Mo.

Wendy your pics from your holiday are excellant - Ruby is gorgeous.

Mo, loving the pics on www.scottishmunsters.net at the moment they are really smashing. That new lense & cover you bought were a good investment.

Well, it looks almost certain that I won't be making it to the Club Show this year. I was doing my sums yesterday & theres no way I can afford to make the journey. It's such a shame as it's 1 of my favourite shows of the year.

I hope Nicky is starting to feel better now. I hadn't realised she had been to hospital twice, what a nasty nasty bug she's had.

Pam

Love your pictures Wendy  Yes took a few of Aero   He  is on the slide show at scottishmunsters.co.ukWe had a run around after the show on Sunday  and I got a few shots there. Hope to go this weekend to see Nicky at Agility  hopefully to get some pictures there. Nicky has been very ill and has been admitted to hospital I think twice Hence her absence from here.

Mo - Some really great pictures - very clear and good clarity.  Love the one with dog snorkling - you can see the water beads so well.  Did I miss one of Aero ??  John mentioned that you took one or two ??  What is your camera Mo ?  Not that I am an expert but like to know anyway.
bnat065.jpgDSCN0382.JPGDSCN0361.JPGWill put up a couple more I took in Ireland.  Mine is not good on action shots as the shutter is too slow.  We tried several times trying to get the girls diving into the water but without success.

Hi everyone - what a lot has happened whilst we were spending a weeks holiday in Southern Ireland.  First well done to Elvis, Tilly and not forgetting Aero. Always wanted to visit Ireland and having a pup there seemed a good excuse.  This is a picture of Max who now lives in Co. Wexford with Yvonne and Ian.  All four munsters had a good run on the beach and unfortunately Ruby drank the sea water !!   Hope you are all well.  Great news Carol and Colin.
Looking forward to pictures of your new abode, fingers and toes crossed all goes well this time.
Also looking forward to seeing you at Kelso or the Nat Apt Day.
I have offered to run a training class for basic gun dog working including using the whistle - if anyone interested whilst the Nat Apt taking place.  Drop me a line if interested.

Hi Pam,

Thanks for the kind words on Aero and yes, we are really pleased with him! We are heading to Lanark at the weekend but we are just a wee bit disappointed there are no puppy classes. It will just be another one for his experience and of course to support the cause. One of Fiona's friends will be visiting us over the weekend and she'll be coming to the show with us. She was brought up on a farm in Ireland and does not like dogs!!! how can anyone brought up on a farm not like dogs??? Pretty brave of her to come along with us right enough.

We had a great day at SKC with all those friendly Munsters and their owners. Next big one for us is Blackpool. Messed up on the Border Union entry!!

hope to see you at Lanark.                  John

Hi,

Had a fabulous weekend. Elvis & I had some great walks with Mo & Her Gang on Friday & Saturday. The show on Sunday was great fun too, had such a giggle ringside. Apologies to those who were waiting for me to demonstrate my pole dancing in the ring but my bottle crashed!!!LOL Maybe at the Aug Show instead!!!LOL ;-)

Erin did really well over the weekend too, so well done to her. Maybe Nicky can come on & give us a run down on all her achievements???

I just want to say a Huge Well Done to Aero, John, Fiona & the kids. You must be over the moon with Sundays result. Aero has really come on since I last saw him. Wendy you too must be very proud. He is gorgeous & was very well behaved in & around the ring. Well Done!!

So, who is coming over to Lanark for the Show this Sunday? Mo & I were thinking of going somewhere after it for a run with the dogs so anyone wanting to join in would be more than welcome. Even if you're not entered at the show just let us know you're interested & we'll organise something. It would be nice to have a wee Mini Munster Bash.

Hi,

Well I think you are really getting the hang of it. The pic of the hawk on www.scottishmunsters.net is brilliant for being taken from so far away. Of course you can "Borrow" Elvis - it will be his pleasure to be a model for you!!!LOL ;-)

How about we meet at our benching area about 12.00ish then we can decide where a good spot would be to "set up camp"??? If our ring is along the back near the wee forrest like last year that will be an ideal spot. What do you think?

Hi,

Mo, I noticed the masses of Red, White & Blue Flags heading south on the motorway too this morning. The News is reporting 100,000 fans are heading to Manchester but I think you could easily double that!!!! You will be able to watch the match live on ITV1 tongiht from 7.30pm. I won't be watching as I will be getting my babysitting training tonight!!! It's my 1st tie babysitting my gorgeous little niece tomorrow night, Eeeeekkk!!! I'm nervous!!!LOL

I'll be pickig Elvis up on Friday night Mo so if you fancy a walk (or 3) over the weekend let me know. Billy is bathing him for me tonight but if he gets dirty I'll just fling him in the Clyde on Saturday!!!LOL ;-)

Well just came up the M74  and the volume of cars going south is amazing   all with

Union Jacks flying out of their windows   Streach mobils .... buses ++++...vans...caravans... the M6 going south will be blocked by Midday  I would think, two police cars racing down also hope no accident  as no staff in hospitals  as all going to "the game"  Our hospital car park empty??!! . Hope the good people of Manchester know what is going to hit them???

So "the Russians are coming"  forget them "the Picts are coming" .

If the English want to attack us( Bannochburn)  now would be a good time to do it .. no one here??!!

Hope all goes well     suppose the game will be on the telly??!!!

If you phone the secretary and tell them that you are in the middle of moving house and have lost your passes they should be able to help you out. They will either have a set of new passes at the gate or tell you to get in touch with the printers for a new set. Though this close I would think they may just have them at the gate.

Hi,

Thanks for that info Linda. Must say I am totally shocked at that, why on Earth would they have 3 breeds being judged in the same ring??? I would guess then that we won't be getting judged til 2pm (ish) then (at the VERY EARLIEST)? What a long days it's going to be if we have to be in for 11.30am. We have been shunted like this before at this show, infact was it not Aug last year that the ring next to us was empty for ages but they still made us wait to be judged, it was really late on in the afternoon before we got in. I guess it's to do with number of entries but I definitely don't think it's fair.

Rant Over!!!!

Pam

Edited To Add:

Have managed to get more Info, we are in Ring 15 behind 57 Gordon Setters then 36 GWPs. We have an entry of 42 (good for a Scottish Champ Show I think). Judging starts as 9.30am.

Pam, you'll have plenty of time to sit around. Munsters are 3rd breed in the ring after Gordon Setters and German Wirehaired Pointers! I don't know how many entries there are for either of these breeds. I didn't enter this year, too many bills (vet, car parts, etc...) that I didn't ahve any spare cash at the time. Blasted car is still sick, even after being 'fixed', so I'm back to square one trying to find the problem.

Well done to Aero and family, and to Erin at the weekend. Keep up the good work!

I don't think I've received wir passes for the show with all the upheavel - goodness knows where they are if I did.  Our B&B is in a mobile phone blackspot so all the surfing i've done is a short drive away so have to make sure battery in laptop is charged before I go. I'm impressed thus far with the wee gizmo.

Nicky,

How about Tues evening  7:30pm ish for a wee visit.

You know Vicky you can get your dogs eyes tested  at Kelso at the same venue as the Nat. App.
Mo

Hi everybody.

We attended a gundog trainging day held by Michael, Christine & Raymond today near Flockton which is up north today. We had a lot of fun and it was very interesting to learn and try all of the different aspects of this type of training. We practiced 3 different "disciplines" which were Tracking, Retrieving and Hunting and Isla did very well! Carly did very well too considering she is only a baby.

It was a very good day out and we all really enjoyed it and afterward we went to a river nearby and let all the dogs swim in the river (I stayed in the car park watching a GSP for a lovely lady and decided to sun myself a bit whilst this happened! LOL!!)

I am really really looking forward to Kelso now. I am excited about the show as well as visiting Scotland as it will be my first time visiting there! We are staying in a log cabin which accepts dogs in a place called Jedburgh (SP?).

Carol you know I am a gadget freek   ( woops spelling  )  I would love to see it
Can you use 3G  The very fast mobile signal  which is used for video calls ?
I got a 70-300mm IS USM Lens  IS is Image Stabilizer  so cannot use with tripod (earth moves)
but can use with monopod. Still playing with it  but it seems good   you can tell when the IS clicks on??!! want a new camera now  Canon have just brought out the 450D 12 Mega pixels??
Mo

A modem that connects to the USB port of laptop (or PC).  3.6MBps ADSL i.e. broadband.

3GB per month for £15 per month.

USB device free if commit to 24months contract  or Â£79  if 12 month (I think)

or pay £20 / month  £99 for device 3GB limit but can walk away after 1 month

Seems faster than the BT broadband we had in the house in Peebles which was rated "up to" 8Mbps.

Mo,

What type of lens did you get? (Will bring PC/Modem to SKC if you wish to see a demo)

Nicky,

Would you like some visitors one night this week.  we promise not to take up residence and we have been having counciling for our aggression and seperation problems. I know your busy so leave up to you for day.

   Cheers Carol

Creating this entry in the car (passenger) on the move on the A90 near Dundee.  Just got a super wee vodaphone gizmo - brill.  Been really missing the internet. Lots to catch up on. Still homeless but the B&B is brill. Will write more later after a catch up.

There were some super wee puppies at the Birmingham show. Well done to Ruby and the rest. I thought Keith was very good and considerate to the young dogs

Hi,

Just wanted to say a big well done to Aero at the show yesterday. What a great result. Looking forward to seeing you at SKC in a couple of weeks.

Mo, I really like the photos you have put on here & also on www.scottishmunsters.net Take it you are pleased with your new lens. I love how Maggie is always "Laughing" in her photos!!!LOL

I am having a dog free weekend but I must say I am really missing my boy!!!! Can't wait to see him next weekend.

Aero

Had a phone call this lunch time from Fiona to tell me Aero was first in minor puppy at an any variety gun dog show (somewhere in Scotland I presume) and then  fourth in the puppy class.
Good news for munsters that we are getting looked at when up against the more popular gun dogs and also for the Macgregor family at their second show.
Of course I am triple delighted, Shula and Ruby both qualified for Crufts at their first champ show and Aero done well today.
Hope Carol you got back to Scotland safe and sound - keeping everything crossed for a happy ending re. your house.

Vicky, I am sorry to hear about poor Carly. I'm sure she will be fine though so dont feel bad about it. Well Done on Qualifying Islay for Crufts, it is a great feeling when that happens.

Nat Dog Show

Yes Pam, I'm at BU with both the girls!

Today was a nice day, the weather was LOVELY! Shame we were inside....

However, Carly had hurt her foot (pad) a few weeks ago, some silly person had smashed a beer bottle and when they were out on a walk Carly sliced her pad on it. She has been going to the vets twice a week for about a month to have it dressed and it had healed fine and she could walk on it. However, when I took her today she was being shown on concrete therefore it made her foot very very sore & she was lame (she was fine before and everything). I got a little upset about this as I would never take my dog in lame and would never put them through any pain whatsoever. It was an experience for Carly though as she got to be in the ring with other dogs.

Wendy was very very supportive when i was upset about this and I just want to say thankyou very much as well as to anyone else that said kind words to me (Lynn, Raymond etc)

I got a second place with Isla (Crufts Qualified!!). This was the one thing I wanted to do when I started dog showing - qualify for crufts. I am so so proud of my two girlies. They were so good.

Vicky...

Good Luck to everyone going to the Show tomorrow. I look forward to hearing the results as they come in!!!!!

Sadly Vicky I couldn't take the day off to come to the show tomorrow. Hopefully we will catch up at something else soon though. Are you taking both your girls tomorrow? They are looking well from your photos.

Pam

Thanks! We had loads of fun :D

I think most people would like to win one of those keesakes opposed to a trophy that will sit ina  cupboard for a year. A pic of yuor dog would be nice to see them grow up and that would also be a more valued prize than a trophy.

trophy

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

You don't like them because of the amount you get (LOL!) Think of all that dusting!!!!!!!!! hee hee.

Not a bad idea though. The thought of something for the dogs, like the stocking at the HPR christmas show, might be a better idea. Or a box of chews, or new leads, or something like that. Or how about a photo of the winning dog turned into a jigsaw puzzle? I've seen some made up in Brechin at the Print Shop there. Now I wouldn't mind winning that!

trophy

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
that one has been missing since kel was a babe. i dont really like trophies that you have to hand back i would prefer either a little keepsake one or a chew for the dog as they would appreciate that better. most of these trophies are ancient and not the most attractive things in my opinion.

Hi Vicky, what a happy lot you look. It looks like you are enjoying your holiday.

Well done Erin and Ace.

Unfortunately I can't look at videos on my computer, but might get to my son's house so that I'll be able to see all these videos now that my car is fixed. I'll be taking it for a test drive later, just to see if it really is fixed.....

Ok, to change the subject and get serious. At the show at the weekend the Howitt Cup wasn't awarded as it was missing. Now I'm not pointing fingers at anybody, it's a question of what do we do next? Do we try to track it down (it's been missing for years apparently, so that might be a headache in itself) or do we ask the club to look for it, if they have records that far back, or should it be replaced? It was awarded twice a year, so it wasn't even kept for the whole year, so maybe 2 cups/trophies should be donated. What do you guys think? Are there other clubs that have had cups/trophies go missing? It's not fair on the new people coming in to the breed if they win an award, only to find that there isn't anything to take home. I'm personally not all that bothered about having to bring dust collectors home (LOL) but I still remember the first time I won a trophy.

..In wales this weekend.

Hope everyone is ok, check out my flowery number!! ;)

Mo

Looking forward to seeing the video - can you put it up on this site or is it too big ?
Anybody coming down for show on Thursday ?
Just got back in from the carnival - Ruby really enjoyed it and behaved reasonably well besides eating kids ice creams, picking up dropped chips and chasing balloons.  The noise of the loud speakers and the fun fare didn't seem to bother her, she was more interested on left overs dropped on the floor !!

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a good Bank Holiday weekend. I have had a fab time, got out some excellant walks with Elvis, Mo & the gang Fri, Sat & Sun & today I am just about to head into Glasgow to meet a friend for Lunch. It's a good life!!!LOL

Hope you are having a good 'bank holiday'.  Spoke to Fiona tonight, who is thrilled Aero got a yellow rosette and that he behaved well, small open shows being the ideal place to introduce a young munster.  I understand they enjoyed the day.

Full list of Lm Committee members can be found on club web site - sorry too late for me to do the list now.  Hope our friends from Scotland have arrived home safe and sound.
Tomorrow is our local towns May Day Carnival - and if a nice day a few thousand will turn up and watch the procession and then head off to local park for amusements, side shows, stalls etc.
We are planning on taking Ruby for a short period to get her used to noise and crowds.
How did Erin do at her show ?

Why do we bother? My darling little angel (Yeh, right!!!!!) decide that the ring was not where she wanted to be and didn't move well at all. Understatement!!!!!!!!!! The minute I took her outside and moved her - perfect. Little s*d!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you, her mother took a while to realise what she was supposed to be doing, didn't she?

What a lovely family the MacGregors are. I'd like to thank them for holding my dogs when I was in the ring. Sorry, I am terrible for names! I remember travelling to a show with Tina when we first met and it wasn't until we were on the way home that I remembered her name!!!!!! Oh dear...... Unless I see it written down I do forget very quickly. Faces I remember for years, but names are quickly forgotten.

It was good to see Stuart and Katrina again after so long. Good luck with your up-coming sailing lesson Stuart!?!?!??!!?!?!?!!?

thats ok linda. paws couldnt believe she won bpib at crufts either lol!!!!! well we are just packing caravan to go to agility show and the clouds are already gathering after it being blue skies all morning. aint that just typical. oh well it could be worse it could be a tent we were in.

Of course it was Paws that won BPIB at Crufts. Sincere apologies to Erin and Paws. I told you I was going senile, didn't I???? It was Manchester, and the club's Open show in February that the sister went BPIB.

Off to lie down and try to find my mind. It has to be somewhere, I've definately lost it........

Morning,

Linda, I am confused, wasn't it Erin & Paws (Franorst Paws for Eirinn) who got BPIB at Crufts this year????

What does everyone have planned for this weekend? Good Luck to those going to Tay Valley, looking forward to hearing the results.

Aah! Right. Penny came from this way but she isn't one of mine, she's one of Tina's (I think) She is approx 6 weeks younger than mine. She should be nice though, as her litter sister won BPIB at Crufts this year...........

One of Pepsi's sisters decided to celebrate her birthday by chasing rabbits, not good for a working munster. She was told off for that! Another sister had a bath, after she found and rolled in cow poo! Who'd have dogs, eh?

Yep, up into Junior now.

Gill, where were you when you saw a sister? There is one in Aberdeen, but I think they have family in Glasgow so I'm assuming it was her. Her name is Lilly. There is another in Argyll, but the last one is down south so I don't think it was her.

I don't know much about obedience tests but just got news that one of Pepsi's brothers has passed the beginners road safety test. Is that anything like the good citizen scheme? He is at his first proper obedience show on Saturday so fingers crossed for him.

Hope Carol and Colin find somewhere suitable soon I had a similar problem when I was buying somewhere last year but luckily I found somewhere else and pulled out of the one I was getting messed about with.
